Meet the Author:
Alexandra Sanchez

Alexandra Sanchez is the author of the Okelani's Enchanted Wheelchair book series and founder of Kamoke Publishing. Kamoke Publishing is named after her daughters, Kamea and Okelani. She is an entrepreneur and fashion designer, but most importantly a mother/caregiver. She is from Albuquerque, New Mexico but recently moved her family to Denver, Colorado to be closer to the children's hospital.

As a special needs mother to Okelani, she saw firsthand the lack of books representing kids with disabilities and special needs. This inspired her to write her first children's book, Okelani's Enchanted Wheelchair Space Bound!

Specifically for kids that are "wheelchair bound". It was very important for her to write them their own fairytale, wheelchairs included. But she wrote these books for all kids to enjoy, and have some much needed conversations with their parents about disabilities and accessibility in a fun way. She also wanted to encourage inclusion and start some friendships.

Alexandra has shipped OEW Space Bound! all around the country and is very happy with the feedback she has received. She feels she is living in her purpose and can't wait to write more Okelani's Enchanted Wheelchair books.

Sheila Fein is an illustrator and a fine artist. She enjoys combining the two disciplines to illustrate and design children’s books. Sheila grew up on Long Island and earned her bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Fine Art at Buffalo State College. When she is not painting or illustration, she runs drawing workshops called Imaginings Sketch/People Sketchers for artists to study the human figure.

Sheila also teaches privately, helping others to express their own style and imagination. She lives in the Santa Monica Mountains of California with her husband and their chocolate lab, Charlie Sage. Her home is always open to her children, their families, friends, and other artists.

Sheila is a young “Gami” with three grandchildren, Ian, Riley, and Aubrey. Sheila is a PAL (published and listed) member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
